RE: COOL 600 SITE

I am seriously tempted by a SWB600. It runs close to the W126 as my favorite MB for drivin' around. The '71 300SEL is a drool car for just $42K. http://www.mbgrand600.com/forsale/71300SEL/FrameSet.htm

RE: COOL 600 SITE

Great site as is http://www.m-100.cc/.

The 600 is probably the grandest of modern Benzes, including Maybachs.

Here is one that I just purchased...on eBay no less.

RE: COOL 600 SITE

Very swank. What has to be done to the car, or is it good to go? How do you plan to use it? I am considering adding one if I can figure out a suffient use for it. My priority is to add a 560SL for summer driving.

RE: COOL 600 SITE

JeepersCreepers and Marsden,

Thanks. The car is a 1972 and is currently outside Atlanta. I bought it on eBay about 3 weeks ago and am heading to Atlanta next weekend to view it before shipping it to a 600 expert in PA. The previous owner bought it in 1996 with only 18K miles--it now has 83K miles. So at least it was used and was not stored with its seals and fluids rotting. I figure that it may need some refurb to make it a decent daily driver. I did speak with its previous mechanic and he attests that it is in fine shape. (The dealer who took the car in on trade is unaffiliated with the shop where it was serviced.) I plan to store it at my parents' home in CT until I secure another garage space in San Francisco. I will use it when visiting and working in NYC on occasion.

I always dreamed of one of these cars. They are larger than life. The 600's technological advancement was unprecedented at the time, however, much of that is commonplace today--adjustable air suspension, reclining rear seats, climate control, door closure assist (a la s-class), etc. And they are all hydraulically driven. I will let you know what transpires from my visit to Atlanta to see her.

Thanks again for your congratulatory words.

RE: COOL 600 SITE

The 600 achieves a look of understated grandeur that no other car can match, IMHO.

Awesome, man. She looks beautiful.

PS: "All hydraulically driven" [:0][8D]
