I have a 1975 280C and the door check is unavailable online. I have searched other years/models and it appears the later version (which is stamped steel not 'pot metal') would work, anybody tried this?
On my early W115, the door check is made out of cast alloy and most were in bad shape, I managed to get a few good ones from the rear doors of some cars and transferred the blade (different front and rear).
The ones from the W123 are easily available here in Malaysia, they are similar but need some adapting in all aspects.
The hole where the pin goes (on the chassis) is a bit too small, you need to ram something a bit larger than the original pin into it to enlarge it.
The two holes on the forward edge of the door (where the blade exits) need to be filed out a bit.
And likewise for the hole for the third bolt.
It maddening.. all the above are only just a bit over... what was MB thinking of?
Anil
BTW the above refers to saloons...
