Is this 280sel a 1972 or 1973?

So I just purchased this car. The owner said it was a 1973. The mechanic who worked on it said it was a 1972. Can anyone out there tell more definitively by the pictures? The VIN is: 10806812018113

The car is a 1973 model.

Thanks. Did you determine that off the VIN? or the body?

Hi,

did you install the front blinkers?

These are off a 1965-1967 W108 or W109.

By the way, your license plate is not the original
CA plate. Yours was issued around 1994-1995.

Best regards

Hans

From the VIN. And 67SEL is absolutely correct about the front lights. I'm guessing the car had some significant front end damage at one time. Here's a pic of what it should look like:

The guy told me it had some front end damage that was repaired. Looks like they put on different blinkers...I bought the car last week and haven't touched it yet. In your opinion, should I return the blinkers back to their original OR does it really matter? I don't plan on restoring to show quality.

I think the newer style lights look a lot nicer, but they're pricey. If you find some decent used ones for a reasonable price, I'd say go for it, but I wouldn't make a it a high priority.

The car looks great as is. Congratulations on the purchase. If you are going to use it as a driver, I wouldn't worry too much about the originality [8D]

Thanks for the advice. I think I'll keep her as is since we're going to use it as a daily driver (I walk to work mostly). I like the look as well. Some day I'll be able to afford the toy that only leaves the garage to go to shows.
