On my similar model, I needed the ignition key to unlock the steering wheel. Didn't need to start the car. Just turned the key to ON and rotated the steering wheel slightly, and it would unlock. Does that work?
Thanks...I'll give it a try tomorrow. It would be great if this will free the lock.

Yes, turning the key to "on" should unlock the steering wheel. I'll have AAA stop by and air up the tires. Hopefully they will hold air enough to roll out of the garage and onto the trailer! The transport should be there in the next few days[:)]

Autobahnfahrer: If you got it for ~$5000, you are
very lucky! (but you are probably already aware of that...)

br,
syljua

Actually, he is getting it for free. Only what it will cost him to ship it home.
Hmm, the chrome on that car are alone ~$5000...

Just look at this LA based dealer (prices in Euro);

Yes....when I turned the key "on" the steering wheel freed up. However with the tires dead flat I could not manually turn the wheel.

I want the car to be kept intact. Anyone who will do that can have the car for free. Daniel was the first to make that offer.

If he is not able to pick up the car before Feb. 6th (when I start jury duty) the offer will be open again.

RE: 1968 280SE Coupe

She is out of the garage and the tires are holding air. Tomorrow she will probably leave for Nevada.
