He probably sold it at a great price as it was a clean coupe and just does not want to say.....Either way it was very generous and I am certain the guy that recieved it sure is lucky,he was at the right place at the right time...

"I don't know anything for a fact",but have lots of opinions that might or might not pan out!

Maybe he made a lot of money on the car....but, I don't care about that....in my mind what is important is that the car is still in good shape...regardless of who owns it.

I would only feel bad if he sold it for 'parts'.

I trusted him when I spoke with him on the phone.

Perhaps he just needed the money when he sold it and was afraid to say so.

I wish he would have told me.

I admire you Corkscrew. You are not only generous but KIND too. If I were in your shoes, I would feel different. Likely, I would ONLY agree to give such a DESIRABLE classic if it was to be KEPT and RESTORED (assuming that's the case why I had to move out). The idea is to provide it a BETTER home and the car be extended the TLC it needs that I could not provide.

Hey, it's for FREE! So I could give my demands and conditions prior to giving the car out. Also, if the next owner would so decide to SELL the classic, I would have the RIGHT OF FIRST REFUSAL to it.

Sheesh, what am I saying... this is the effect of being frustrated of not being there when you opted to move out the W111. I love that car.... maybe even more than a co-classic W113.... Yup, THAT MUCH!

Cheers!

No, it is somewhere in the far west. I hope it has a good home.

you can click his profile and see his posts. Seems like he travels back and forth to Europe, could explain the lack of updates. in one of his posts he also mentions the name of his mechanic. I think the guy is just off the boards and doesnt keep up with this thread. Send him a PM or email if you want to contact him.

Sill sorry I could get that SL from you Corkscrew, pesky board crashing before I could say yes.

Performance parts for w126, r/c107, w201, m117, m119, m102, m104 and few other things.

Reproduction 17" Penta wheels coming soon.

After reading this thread, I realize that I MUST restore this 250SEC I just bought cheap.
I do not own cars, I am merely their caretaker.

OK, that is encouraging to hear. Since I live in Bangkok, Thailand, I can understand why his updates are slow to come ( I am lax, too, in my e-mails ). If anyone knows him personally I would be very happy if someone would contact him about the restored 280 SE. I would like to see photos of what he did with the car. It was a family car that I wanted someone to keep in good condition.

I don't think that he sold it for parts...he seemed like a nice guy when we spoke on the phone.

If it were closer all that time ago I would have been knocking on the door of your garage within hours! and i certainly wouldn't have wasted your time like the two guys did at the beginning ,while they checked out the transport etc . He who hestitates, walks... : -) .A car like that here in OZ is a $20,000 car regardless of condition. A friend of mine is right this minute importing a coupe from the USA because local ones are too expensive.
Good karhma!
