Manual Transmission for 6.3 M100 in W111

In the quest to get a little ;-) more pick up out of my 220SEBc I looking for the following information:

1) Any information about going manual on the 6.3
2) Does the 280SE 3.5 manual bell housing fit a 6.3 engine?
3) How about the 3.5 automatic?
4) Is the transmission tunnel of the early 1963 W111 different from the later V8's W111?
5) Do you know anybody that has Updated a W108 /111 six to a V8?

RE: Manual Transmission for 6.3 M100 in W111

Rolf,

Happy to see another regular vintage MB driver here in Atlanta.

1) Any information about going manual on the 6.3

Yes. http://www.big-toys.net/

2) Does the 280SE 3.5 manual bell housing fit a 6.3 engine?

No. The m100 block has a very large bellhousing.

3) How about the 3.5 automatic?

The m100 have transmissions that are unique to the m100.

4) Is the transmission tunnel of the early 1963 W111 different from the later V8's W111?

I am not sure about this, but I believe they are relatively similar and the differences should be minimal.

5) Do you know anybody that has Updated a W108 /111 six to a V8?

Not yet, but it is quite feasible to make this happen given enough patience and perseverance.

Regards,
