RE: '61 W111 220SEb coupe restoration

Thursday September 23rd 2004:

Not too much has happened due to waiting for the Jacking points to come from Mercedes-Benz, Germany.
The rear of the sill was solid so rather than disturbing the wing and floor around that area the sill was cut and seamlessly welded in place. The inner sills aren’t too bad. Rather than being replaced they’re repaired by introducing new metal were needed. Also discovered that the floor next to the suspension arm needs repairing, something the MOT mans never spotted a couple of months before.[8)]

Typical!
Starting to see real progress but most of the photos for some reason didn’t turn out.[:(!]

Nearside jacking points fitted and sill matched up. Nice to know the jacking points can once more be used, although I'll no doubt continue carrying a trolley jack around.[;)]

RE: '61 W111 220SEb coupe restoration

I restored a 1964 model back in 1982. The car cost me $1,800 and I spent another $5,000 restoring it. All four fenders were replaced. Interior was good. The wood was very good too. I sold it in 1984 with all the extra parts for $6,000. Great old cars! Good luck on your project![8)]

It's not far off but I've not done much to it last year through other projects, ill health etc.
It's MOTed, taxed and on the road but still neads a bit doing to it.[:)]
