RE: Buying a 1979 450slc/ 1969 250c
I have a 79 450 SLC. Its not running yet, due to cutting rust out, but if thats a problem it may be worse on the older 250's. As a daily driver its good. The 3speed auto and the cast iron block is known as unbreakable. Suspension all independent, disc brakes. The technology was very advanced. Fuel consumption is not good. 20L/100KM city, 12-14L/100KM HWY, and premium fuel. But it shouldn't matter too much if your travelling a short distance in the week. Maintenance can be mostly taken care of by yourself, and there are plenty of people here to help you, but specific parts can be expensive. BTW if your in Australia what kind of prices are you going to pay for the cars?
