RE: Wiring Harness
Is it the engine compartment wiring loom or the entire front wiring loom?.
I can only suggest you approach a wrecker who has a car like yours,(any 4 cylinder petrol/gasoline 115 car) and use the used wiring loom.the Merc wiriing is absolute top quality ,I have swapped over 40-50 year old looms from wreckes and never had a problem. You must be pateint when removing one from a wreck and learn how the various clips and plugs are worked.
For example, those black cable tie looking things can be undone by flicking a little tab and pulling the loop open.In the center of them where they fit to the car, there is a 1/8th pin ,push it in and it releases the clip from the bodywork.Mark each end where it comes off and what it was connected too, although a merc wiring diagram is very good at showing where each wire goes too and what each plug was connected too,Plus the plugs are all different so they only fit in specific components.
the chev,is it carburated and coil igniton?
it would extremely simple to hook up the engine electrics to the merc wiring ,the alternator loom etc is especially heavy duty, remember you are dealing with Mercedes benz here not GM generic rubbish made to a price.Same goes for painless systems which from experience,i have found to be overpriced ,hyped up and not as good quality as mercedes OEM wiring.
Which is the reason why you found little here abouyt the wiring,it's a non issue, most merc electric problems revolve around dirty fuses, contacts in switches and the main wiring terminal block geting dirty or corrodede from battery acid spills.
