RE: Help With Chassis Number Please
You are close to some mates of mine across the straight in Melbourne...,They have a contact who has mountains of parts from dozens of mercs he has wrecked.,although you usually only need to buy simple stuff like plugs, points ( get rid of them,Fit a pertronix ignitor) and oil, filters etc.You should make a habit of getting the front end greased every 5000 k's ( or miles) .In Tassie, because you are not doing long distances it is important to keep the 108 suspension lubed more often,If you are doing long drives like we do here in Qld,It seems that front end only needs lubing every 7,000 ks.There are also grease points on the Diff that need doing too.
Yours has twin Carbs?
SE's are fuel injected.
You won't need air con there either,(last time I was in Tassie i froze,in Summer!!!)[:D][:D]
John Green In Canberra is used by a lot of people in OZ for older merc parts But i have contacts here and in Germany where i can get hard to find parts.Normally i just go into the dump I call my "workshop" where I have more merc parts than I know what to do with!.[:D]
Good luck with your New toy,it will give you miles of good times!!.Just remember that it is 30+ years old and needs a bit more care than the average holden or Falcon[8D][8D]
