240 D in need of repair

I recently bought a '74 Mercedes 240D, in excellent shape and runs great(when it was running). Since then the glow plug indicator in the dash has stopped glowing and the car will not start. The starter turns over but it seems that the glow plugs will not get warm. I have gone ahead and changed the glow plugs but it still will not start. After a discussion with the dealer I bought it from he believes that there is a fuse gone bad. I have checked the fuses and I must admit I cannot tell if they are bad or not. If anyone has any insight I would appreciate it.

RE: 240 D in need of repair

Just replace all the fuses with new ones. They are cheap and the old ones may be getting tired if they aren't already bad. This includes the glow plug relay fuse if your car has one. If the batttery is more than five years old, it probably needs replacing too. You also could have run it down enough trying to start it that you need a recharge or a new one anyway.

Does the glow plug light work now?
