RE: Titanium Undercoating??? (seems like it!)
Thjose 300SD's will have the front fenders Glued on,the same as the W123,there is only one way to get them off and that is to cut them off!.When removing fenders from wrecks i cut the inner fender out.I then clean it up later by burning the glue undone.
When replacing the undercoat,It's PVC by the way,see if can contact your local "Wurth" dealer. They make the OEM stuff thats on the car,But they do not have any stores because they deal with Bodyshops direct. You can buy the stuff from other suppliers and some of it is acrylic water based,NOT GOOD because it reacts with bare steel causing rust.
Buy a brand that has No ammonia,It is available. You use a simple undercoat gun to apply it ,the container of the underseal screws direct to the gun.I think the guns normally are priced about $30.Count on using at least 4 contaners of sealer because it doesn't cover well and to get the corect degree of protection you must apply at least 4 coats. It is meant to have the ripple finish so don't worry if won't come out smooth like paint.
Once you have undercoated the car,it can be sprayed body colour ,thats the correct way of doing it,NOT with cheap chassis black. You should be able to see body colour under the fenders and on the rockers.
Your new undercoat gun then be fitted with a piece of plastic hose and be used to spray waxoyl or similar into the rocker cavities and the door bottoms.
