Fuel starvation on a 240D
[?]Anyone have any thoughts on this...
My wife has a '78 240D that lately seems to have developed some type of fuel starvation issue. I've changed both fuel filters and we've tried various diesel additives through several tanks of fuel and what continues to happen is that with less than half a tank, the engine wants to bog and lose power, especially uphill. We fill the tank and the problem seems to go away.
I'm thinking maybe there is an obstruction in the fuel tank pickup (screen clogged), or in the line, that's causing a fuel pressure drop.
We had the injector o-rings replaced recently (they had been leaking before). Do we need to remove the tank and have it cleaned out and the fuel lines cleaned or replaced?
Any thoughts? Anyone ever experience anything similar to this?
Thanks in advance for your help![:D]
