Thanks for the reply. I'm so used to not be able to count on dealerships for *anything* that I didn't even consider asking them first. I haven't had much use for dealers over the years, because for my other toys, the dealer network either no longer exists (MGB), exists but doesn't want anything to do with the older cars (1972 Dodge Charger), or is just generally worthless (Ducati motorcycles).
It was a pleasure to talk to the dealer today and find out how many parts for the older M-B cars are still available there, and how willing and helpful they were with ordering parts. He told me that he just ordered a gas tank for a 1961 190, and Mercedes actually had four in the warehouse! Not bad for a 45-year old car.
Oh, and he knew exactly what I meant when I told him I needed a "short fuse", and two of them are on the way right now.
