RE: W114 and a 250D engine??

OK Odrec.

If it's plated 230.6, it's a serie 2 built after august 1973.

1. Check out the mileage yourself before judging. 6.6 mpg sounds fishy to me. Unless it has a leak.

2. Are you prepared to drive around with a 4.08 ratio, when the 240(if it is) expects 3.69?

3. What will become of the M180? Will he keep it?

I have seen good conversions before, but I've seen some pretty bad ones too. I've done one myself, about 20 years ago, with a crappy result. It was from M115 200 to an OM615 220D.

Regards

Geir

RE: W114 and a 250D engine??

It is plated 230 only (no .6) and national registry system says it was built in 1974.

VIN 114 015 10 215059
ENGINE 18095410109363

1- The mileage has been checked, I have driven it through 2 full tanks with no increase in efficiency. The las time I poured 12.5 Liters (3.3 gallons) and drove 29.5 Kilometers (18.43 miles) before the light going on (reserve kept intect throughout). This is 2.36 KM/L (5.6 MPG).

2-What effects does the ratio have on the overall driving experience (pardon my ignorance!)?

3-M180 is mine to keep.

Thanks all for your patient support.

RE: W114 and a 250D engine??

I checked my 240D today ,, used 30 litres of fuel to do 300 kms.

I expected better , I guess the trailer made it work harder.

This is a repower , the car was a 250 or 280 , I dont remember which.

I still think it was a good move to repower it ,, even though it is slower . It is still a quirky MB , that handles good and looks distinctive [8D].

RE: W114 and a 250D engine??

Well final negotiations are on their way. Mainly the points to deal are final cost (I mean this car purring <quite a purr, I believe> out of the shop with the new D engine), time required for the job to be completed and terms of warranty. Hopefully if all goes well the W114 will enter the shop on tuesday.

Thanks all for your help. I'll take some pics of the car before its doc trip on monday.

Thanks for everything.
