Ah,do these people on the AMG sites etc actually own these cars? or are they really Walter Mitty types ,you know,the sort of fool who tells veitnam/falkland/desert storm stories without being able to back it up because they have never left their home town in the last 30+ years.[}:)]

Theres this one member, he is 17ish. He post almost daily about his new AMG. If you trace the posts, in the past 4 months hes owned avery AMG and 2 G55s (for a while, he tried convincing us they were all his, now hes saying they are his parents).... He's Obviously full of it, but a good 50% of them actually have the car, but rather than discussing repairs like the good forums... they usually discuss aftermarket mods and how going to the dealer for repairs sucks (which is does, only go when under warranty...) you should read some of that kids posts, he posts alot on my other forum, MBworld....

I have a wrecker close to me who imports cars from Hong Kong,Mostly Mercs,Bentlys and the occaisonal porsche.
Now, A lot of these are genuine Brabus and AMG cars,and beleive me a lot of the mystic surrounding these alleged weapons is pure bullshit.
A lot of the brabus stuff is interior,wheels and lowered suspension.
AMG cars appear to be the same with mostly stock merc engines .This is of course Hong Kong where the oppurtunity to open a car up is non exsistant but the raw cash to indulge yourself is easily earnt.
Nowadays AMG is building cars with hot engines etc to fill a niche in the market but that has not always been the case,hence genuine AMG 6.3 and 6.9 cars fetching mega money.Back then,you bought what ever the wallet could handle,no two cars being the same.
It amuses me to see these guys saying they fit Brabus this,and AMG that to their cars like they are talking about edelbrock manifolds on their chevys ....
Just like the Import culture with big wings, and hellacious turbo kits... All race bred technology that would never be used to it's potential (and if it was it would probably kill the owner).
The late Barry Sheene (world motorcycle race champion) was given a special Merc by Daimler benz,a CLK ,repowered with a 410 HP V8,a one off built by Daimler enginners just for Baz.
It had only one fualt,it would wear a set of rear tyres out very quickly.
Although the car must be about 8 years old now,it will still eat any of the AMG's etc current today.
I think a lot of these cars must detuned to suit the sort of "clientel" that they are aimed at.
A merc guy i know sold his nice (and fast ) 6.3 to buy a 500E ,the velvet hammer,another older merc that will eat AMGs for breakfast.
My Honda, completely converted to the Japanese specification, and THEN tuned... Because in Japan people actually take their cars to the track, and the car came with more of a track oriented engine and suspention.
