This is my first post here, writing for one of my fellow car-enthusiasts. First, excuse my bad english, I'm and swedish student.
He's owning a 1971 280S in perfect condition, runs very well and everything works... Except the electric fan for the coupe. We would of course like to fix this, but after spending a few hours today trying to get to the fan we gave up.
How do you reach the fan? What needs to be disambled and are there any other good tips on this project?
Would be very thankful for any answers!
Thanks
Stickan
I can't be sure here, as the translation is a bit rough, but I think you are referring to the air conditioner/heater fan for the passenger compartment. On the R107 SL, it is located under a panel(cover) towards the rear of the engine compartment. The cover is located right in front of the windshield, on top of the firewall (you must lift the hood/bonnet to see).
Remove the cover, and the fanmotor and fanwheels come out as an assembly after removing 4 or so screws...
If I am wrong, I apologize...

Where is it again that we are going... And why are we in a handbasket?
Thanks for your answers and I'm sorry for my bad english.
The fan I'm referring to is the one for the heater/ac in the passenger compartment. It is an 280S from 1971, and it seems like all the equipment is under the instrumentdash (wrong word I know but I think you know what I mean).
But it seems like if this car was built around that heater/fan-package and everything must be removed in order to get to the fan. Thats why I'm here asking for help [:)]
Hows your german ? there is a site that describes exactly ,in much detail on how to do the job.It begins with removing the front seats....and works through the process until you have removed the dash board, there is no other way to do it.i have done two and i can assure you of that.[:)]http://216.239.37.104/translate_c?hl...3Doff%26sa%3DG
