A couple engine issues...
I'm enjoying drivng my 280 SE but a few engine issues have me concerned. I have the fuel injected 6.
1. Periodically, I get run on. It is sometimes severe ( 10 sec. or so) resulting in poof of blue smoke. I run try to run premium gas and it seems the higher the octane the less problem I have.
NOTE: I have not had the car tuned up or tappets set since purchased because it seemed to operating fine. Maybe it's time huh?
2. When starting the car after sitting overnight it cranks and fires fine. If I drive, then stop, and return shortly it fires fine. If I drive, let is sit for a few hours or more, I have to give it a long crank until it final fires to life. Is this a sign of loosing fuel pressure when warm? Fuel pump? Fouled plugs when hot? Maybe its another sign it needs a tune up?
By ear, the car sounds fine idling without little if any lifter noise and there's no stumble. When I give it gas when the engine is warm it doesn't hesitate or cough.
I believe the fuel injector pump was replace around 1996 which was maybe 10K miles ago.
Thanks for the feedback...
