RE: 1975 280 Fuel Filter

How about relying on your LOCAL parts store which carries reliable brands like wix, bosch, napa gold (made by wix). But if you like, go ahead and save .02 cents on the internet and pay shipping to your door and save nothing and put your LOCAL parts store out of business or 1 or 2 employees out of a job!! Parts stores stock these parts for cash and carry. Fuel filters are a longer term part anyways...(12-20k miles and should cost $20-30 bucks for our SL's. good luck, BC

I concur exept that his car is carburetted and there is a chance, albeit a small one, that the local parts store doesn't have his particular filter. But I would bet that they do.

RE: 1975 280 Fuel Filter

Trust me, I've purchased a lot of stuff locally in preperation for a tune-up (my first). I just thought this was one I would have to special order, and am pleased to find out I probably won't. Thanx for the tips.

OTOH, it's possible that your car came from the factory without being equipped with a fuel filter at all (save a silly little washable screen that's at or near the carburetor). Frankly, I doubt you'll find an expert on a 30 year-old Benz working a counter at a local parts store. Sometimes, a little knowledge and experience goes a long way. Good luck!

RE: 1975 280 Fuel Filter

The car came without a fuel filter, but many folks just bought a universal inline filter and cut one into the fuel hose under the hood.
