Ok, ok, I confess. I am being blasphemous. Check under my hood. The horror, the HORROR!

Look's a nice, clean job you did on installation. What Detroit Iron motor is that?

The 73 W116's have the bumpers you want.

As far as modification of the body on your car,go for it.I am currently doing a serious redo of my 76
450SE Euro and look for it at the 116 forum here in about 2 months[8D]

I have cancelled the euro bumpers and am adding a hand fabricated front air dam with brake cooler ports, intercooler.Side skirts with rear brake cooler
inserts and a rear valance with dual exhaust ports plus functioning rear diffuser. All chrome cancelled
except the front grill and star and rear star and lift handle.Plus alot going on under the hood.

Do what YOUlike and am looking forward to seeing some photos if you pursue this task[;)]

I'm not sure of your location - but step 1 would be the Euro bumpers and headlights. Much sleeker than the US style.

AMG did a 116. It was for sale at the Classic Center in Fellbach Germany when I was there back in September.

You might be able to Google for some pics - otherwise I did take some pictures but I can't post them until the week after next.

I was at the Classic Centre in August and took about 50 photos of the AMG 450 SEL 6.9. The photos can be found in the Show Room gallery at http://gallery.w116.org starting on page 3 (at the time of this post).

RE: any ideas for breathing new life into 116? ideas?

i have seen a few pictures of 116's lowered... and i like it. suspension and brakes are the two things i upgrade first on my cars (if i choose to modify them). i really love driving lowered cars... but every car i've owned that i lowered was done the right way... i've run a set of h&r ultra lows (stage II) on my jetta and KW variant 2's on my gti... along with better sway bars and the other tie bars, i did this more for handling than looks. i don't know what is available for the 116's as far as suspension goes, but i'd love to see it because i can't bring myself to tweaking my almost perfect condition 116. though it would look really good lowered on my hubcaps and thicker white walls. i just have too much respect for this car to do it.

i hate flashy cars, so i've always been a fan of keeping the body very stock. tasteful wheels and good suspension do wonders for the looks of certain cars. euro lights and bumpers look really nice.

the thing that made me buy this car was how clean and perfect it was. and it will remain that way as long as i own it.

good luck sir.

That's the one. I have some pics that show it more from a distance instead of close-ups on the details. I'll post in 10 days. It really is impressive when you stand back a few feet and take the entire car into view.
