RE: Is the Gullwing mercedes a classic?

If you didn't know if the Gullwing was a classic or not it seems to me that you are buying one as an investment. Not such a bad thing since investors tend to take good care of their cars.

And in answer to your question,.... is Bush a d*ckhead?

[}:)]I will disagree with you on that one. Collectors take great care of their cars. Investors for the greater part don't even know what they have. I was at a show, showing beside an investor with a fairly nicely restored 300 SL roadster; wax in the seams, filthy fender wells, dull black and brown tires, dusty engine compartment. When asked what engine was in the car by a spectator he answered "Biggest V8 they made at the time". The crowning blow was when he displayed the fitted luggage by laying one of them on the trunk or boot lid. Made myself and the other 300SL owners want to pack up and leave.

Again proves the old addage "More cents than sense"

RE: Is the Gullwing mercedes a classic?

The smashed Gull wing? [:(]
I left a message for John Olsen, the "expert" on things SL and he tells me hhe took the shots of the gullwing in 2002 and was following the car when it T boned an "economy" car after the other driver failed to stop at a intersection.[:0]in Peubla ,during the PAn Americana 2002.
As you can see ,the doors still worked and not one peice of glass was broken.
The car has since been restored to 100A1 condition.[:D][8D]
So if you are hoping to buy it $10,000 ,sorry but you are not even in the game[:)]added to that,90% of all gullwings built are still driven and wrecks, often only a engine etc are being built into newish restorations.
when a car will cost you a million dollars (starting price) anything goes.[:D][:D]
