Mechatronik "New Tech" 300SL: Gorgeous!

Go to www.mechatronik.de, navigate to the "Cars For Sale" section, and check out the 300MSL. It's a vintage '58 300SL roadster with a new engine (3.6L Brabus tuned MB inline 6), trans (Getrag 5sp), and brakes. The overall treatment is unbelievably cool, especially the "modern" headlamp/directional units and lack of front bumper. It's got the aggresive feel of an AC Cobra but 2 levels of style and class higher. The car is also featured in this month's "Mercedes Enthusiast" magazine. Here is another link on the Mechatronik site, but it doesn't show the awesome front end.

RE: Mechatronik "New Tech" 300SL: Gorgeous!

Each to their own, but I think this car misses the point. The 300SL is a pure classic. The 300SL with a Brabus engine, modern gearbox and other contemporary changes is a sad hybrid.
I'm sure it's fun to drive, and maybe that's all that matters. Thing is, it's not a 300SL anymore, which is a shame.
