Heater Levers

I have just acquired a 72 280SEL (4.5). The heater control lever (driver side lower) is broken. Is it an easy fix? If so, how?
Tune-up: Noticed that the plugs, cap are easy to get to. Any items to watch out for when replacing? What type of rotor does it use, the parts store lists 2 types.
Any suggestions as to a good online parts store?
Thx!

RE: Heater Levers

greetings. i'm currently having my heater fan and motor replaced as well as all four controll levers. due to time restrictions i had to take it to the shop to have done. since that time i've been searching the net for such information and came across a posting that told how to remove the control mech. by going thru the glove box.
i'll see if i can locate the posting for you and leave a link here.

RE: Heater Levers

Thx all. Been searching the archives and have located a couple of good tips. I heard they make aftermarket levers that you can attach on the broken lever instead on going into the dash, true? Worth it? If so, who would sell it?

Geroge Murphy at Performance Analysis sells aftermarket levers. He lists them as fitting '64 to '71 MB's. Contact him at 865-482-9175 or George_Murphy@compuserve.com

Yes, they're called Duralevers and they're widely available.
