timing chain

gents, I need to replace the timing chain on my w115 220. I have removed the chain and replaced it, along with new tensioner, etc., however Im not sure of the orientation of the top end relative to the bottom, and I dont have a manual to tell me...

Is there a position where I can set the top and bottom end correctly (ie at top dead centre the cam sprocket has to be in a certain orientation?)

Any help appreciated

RE: timing chain

It's the same for all benz.Number one cylynder at Top dead Center, the notch or line lump in the cam lines up with notch or line lump in the first bearing stand.Remove the rocker arms if in doubt and turn engine twice to make sure.[:)]
