And BTW, those are very expensive cars to buy right now, even more than the 113's. Especially the 70-71 Low Grills. But they are the only cars worth restoring. Wish I could find one I could afford. That's why I settled on the 280SE Coupe, which is pretty nice in itself since its basically the same car as the Convertibles.

RE: Need 1969 280SE Convertable info please!

hello norb/all,

first, thanks for the reply(s)....did not know as i was not notified by the forum....anyway....i have the car back (been in storage i california). washed her up yesterday....she looks good....top is in fine condition. body/paint is fair...engine? i had a mechanic here in Sun Valley/Ketchum, ID. look at it....(however he works on "Ketchum Time", when he wants to)....long/short of it....i think i have a blown HG....not sure...white smoke from the tailpipe, runs rough, telltail white foam in oil, runs great if the crankcase vent i NOT returned into the intake stream. mech did a chem HG leak test, but "inconclusive"....but coolant is getting into #5 somehow....he

im planning on driving it around town (just a few miles a day, Ketchum/Sun Valley is very small) till it doenst work anymore...then give it to a (new) mechanic to fix.

does anyone have thoughts on this? how much $$? any referals for a good mech in idaho?

thanks in advance!!

terry
