67 250SE Coupe Windshield Install, need help.....

I finally pulled out both front and rear windows. Cleaned and treated for some minor surface rust. Still waiting on seals to arrive and figured I ask for some pointers on the re-install. Glass is cleaned of old seal bits.

Im curious if the roll of window cement will raise the glass to far out.

Anyone who has done this please come foward. Any pointers and tips? Thanks in advance.

The book reccomends a tube of cement. Eastwood has it. They use an enameled cable to pull up the seal but say a greased cord will work.

Clean the lip area on the car first. Do a net search for the type of cleaner to use.

You need to use a thin nylon cord and insert it into the new rubber. Wrap it around twice starting at the top class and finishing back at the top. Put the glass, with the rubber gasket installed on the glass including the nylon cord, on the window opening and, with two helpers pushing on the glass, draw the cord symetrically around the window. The rubber gasket flap will ride up over the metal and seal itself. Add the sealant.

add the sealant from the backside? Do this by lifting the overlapping flap?

While you have the glass out, order a new headliner and change it out. You have to anyway. Kill two birds with one stone. And be careful, that glass is expensive to replace!

I noticed that headliner. I am not sure if it was done before, considering the leather looks newer. The headliner may have been original, Im not sure. I thought I might have been able to do it at a later date. Theres no no way to set that headliner correctly without pulling the windows, right?

That is correct, you have to pull the glass to do the headliner correctly.
