1973 W114 280CE German Spec's...

I have a 1973 280CE and it is a fantastic car....I use it on long road trips regularly...It has the M110 engine and is very reliable. Glad to read others are appreciating this species of Mercedes Benz. Mine was a one family owned vehicle until I bought it from the son of the original owner in 2001...It is completely stock and in exceptional shape....

1969 250 4 Door Sedan

I just took the plunge with my first real project car. Figured the Benz or this era would be relatively straight forward to work on - and I loved the look. So far, so good - but a long way to go to get her set as a daily driver.
Nice interior, automatic on the floor - sweet ride around the neighborhood already.

Newbie here

I have a 72 250C W114023. Been a reliable car up to about six months ago. Now it seems as though I'm constantly having to adjust the points. Thinking about a Pertronix electronic ignition conversion. Anyone have experience with this on the same model? Could I be having trouble with my ignition control unit as right now the car won't start? Maybe the distributor? Appreciate the help.

Thumbs up

Wow , great thread !

It looks like lots of young folks like W-114's ? . good .

I'm looking for a 114 Coupe in So. Cal. , just for my daily use and to tour in too ~ lots to look at here but most are thrashed beyond hope and/or wrecked . like the green 250C in Inglewood that sold on E-pay to-day , I went to look at it ~ TRASH ! rusty trash and his " rebuilt engine " smoked blue the whole time.....

Gimme a shout if you have a decent one in L.A. or hereabouts...

I have a 72 220d with 80k miles- thinking of selling it, but have absolutely no idea what it is worth. I just can't find anything anywhere comparable. Most 220d's I've seen have hundreds of thousands of miles on them.

The car is very straight with only a little rust spotting on one quarter panel, it could use some paint, a headliner, etc- nothing major except for maybe the thumping in the driveshaft that keeps it from being a daily driver... any ideas?

I'm thinking of just driving it down to the vintage Mercedes show next year and see what gets offered. I don't really have the time to restore the car myself since I'm currently building my midlife crisis convertible racecar, and refurbishing a HUD house.
(near Dallas)

Any suggestions would be muchly appreciated.

All I can say is : the driveshaft center support bushing is simple to change out , even if you only remove it and take to driveline shop for the presswork .

I gave up looking for a good 114 Coupe and bought a nice low milage W-123 Diesel Coupe for $600.00 I'm only the third owner too .

Crashmodem if the car really has documentation to prove that it has 80K miles on it then you can probably sell it for $5000 or so. If you can't show records and documentation it will probably go for $2000-2500 bucks give or take with the physical appearance and the driveline issue. The "little paint" is a big factor as well since appearances are well.....everything.

Post some pictures.

I have recently changed out the auto trans on the 240D for a manual, what a great fun car it is now.
Next job HAS to be a manual box for the 300D , its gonna be awsome!!
