Fuel Pump Replaced, Still Not Running, Fuel Check Valve?
Just checking in to see if one of you could help , once again, with diagnosing the problem I am having with Manny (1973 280). Originally, the carb wasn't getting fuel, which was apparent because the pump simply didn't have enough pressure to shoot the fuel up into the carb.
I have replaced the fuel pump, and now the fuel has plenty of force and should get to the carb. But it seems that there is a check valve that sends excess fuel through a return line back to the tank...? Is this right? The carb is still dry, but the return fuel line is wet. could a blockage in the check valve be keeping the carb dry or is it something in the carb that is not "pulling" the fuel into the throttle body properly?
I looked into the belly of the carb and it seems to be fairly clean, as though it has been serviced recently. So, mabye the rebuild kit won't be necessary.
Also, I am fairly certain that spark is not the problem because the car will fire up with a shot of carb cleaner down its throat it just won't hold idle.
Any help would be great.
(Also posted on MBCanada, but I figured more sources would be helpful.)
