On a strictly personal note, I prefer the original look.

I figure any real Mercedes enthusiast would prefer originality to customization which I can appreciate, we just wanted to go a different direction with the car and make it unique. Of course I'm not putting anything crazy like carbon fiber and bright colors on it, just more modern Merc wheels and a more contemporary color while still trying to respect its origins. I would love to hear any suggestions both mechanically or aesthetically though.

1939 G4 Offener Touring Wagon

Went to the Lyons Air Museum at the John Wayne Airport in Orange County, CA. I'm shocked, shocked to find this vehicle on display. Especially eerie being a MOT. Any way, for me, it's about the cars.

Sorry, I wasn't being critical. I said 'personal note' because I really like that creamy yellow paint.

Yeah. The hitler-mobile seems like it would be more appropriate in the private collection of some skinhead as opposed to on display in a museum, especially one associated with a public place like an airport. Very strange indeed, surely very offensive to some, or many millions. And to have the flags still on it. Man. It just seems to wrong to me.

These may not be worth as much, or some even run, but I bet they generate better feelings in general.

My "new" 1972 250C

It runs, it drives, it even barely brakes! Headed for a mechanical overhaul next week.

Has a 220 trunk emblem for some reason, but is a 250C per the sill plate. Will trade a 280C and the 220 emblems for the correct 250C emblem.

Some previous owner stuck tacky vinyl rub strips and "chrome" on it, damaged paint below midline. Can anyone tell me what color this is - paint seems authentic based on interior metal.

Final question - are these wheels appropriate to the vehicle? Are there supposed to be paint matched covers? I've seen pics of them both ways. I'm new to MB and plan to use this car for Sunday touring, parades, and as film picture car.

Thanks for looking!
