It's really a hunk of junk, not even roadworthy, but I enjoy looking at those two pics of that 1970 250c. Never mind the hood not being closed and the rear end damage on the car, and oh, the rust spots.

A few shots of my '73 450SLC. I've only had the car since Friday, and I'm already smitten.

Indeed, HockeyGod. I've had it for exactly one week and I couldn't be happier. Are you also in the Spokane area?

Nope, I live west of the mountains, but have ties to the other side. I thought the car looked familiar, I remember this ad (if it's the same car, it must be?):

1973 Mercedes 450 SLC

I remember finding the auction listing, bid a bit less than this ask, I think. If it is the same, and you paid anything close to the auction (about 40% less than the asking price), a likely bargain - you can't clean up a bad one for that, and originality is unrepeatable.

I love the color combo and the 70s chic presence of the car.

Shockingly, this is not the same car! Different serial numbers (mine is #400, this one is #2644). Mine also has a few more miles 106k, but it has the original Becker Grand Prix Radio with remote glovebox mount cassette deck. What are the chances that two of these cars exist with this color combo, let alone two in little old Spokane!?

That's crazy! I guess the serial number tells it all - I was thinking/hoping you just put in a correct radio, but nope, serial number tells all. What are the odds indeed, especially as so many SLCs seem to be silver with a black or blue interior - that olive green isn't common, but I think it is stylish. Now and then I wonder what happened to the auction car, IIRC it went for 6K. I discovered it after the auction and kind of wanted it, but realistically don't have the time or place for another car.

And to be on topic, here's my old beast parked on the street last weekend:
