I am the PROUD owner of a '78 mercedes 240d
The car's older than me, but it still has LOTS of life left!
This is my '68 250SE that is undergoing a transformation from mild-mannered family sedan to rumbling family hot-rod.
The car is undergoing a powertrain conversion - the anemic 2.5 liter 150hp six holed burner has been replaced with a snorting 8-holed burner. The project is still underway and is expected to be operating under its own power late spring 2008.
Besides some interesting engineering issues, the real challenge has been to find a proper set of wheels. The search continues...
wow a family hot rod! lol that is new! havent seen that done yet! i like the color of the paint!
should be a fun family-cruiser with a good "thump".
The stock color is the 335 blue. At this point the focus is on getting the power train conversion completed.
I am looking at keeping the color in the "blue" family but have not yet finalized my selection. One option is to respray the car with its 335 Blue, but to ad a blue pearl to clearcoat. Another option is to spray it in a dark blue that has a very slight shimmer to it. The only thing that I have almost decided on is that the interior will have a dark tan leather interior (similar to the MB cognac leather).
All I have to say is: I had a blast looking at all this beautiful cars, I've downloaded every single picture on the 29 pages of this "vintage forum".
I have a 1971 280se w108.018 that my dad bought to my cousin, and then I bought it to my dad, the car stood a couple of years totally abandon, so I'm trying to restore it.
I don't have pictures of the car in this computer (I'm at my office), but is the one on my signature.
The next step is to re-paint it, and I have a question for you guys.
By any chance anyone has a color code palette? I want to paint the car in any of the original colors, but I want to use the exact code for the painting.
Thanks!
(problems with the signature)
