Sorry catboy - we (Americans) are not all such knot-heads, 49% of us are actually decent people so please, don't throw the baby out with the bath water!
Speaking of babies, here is mine...under reconstruction, and she runs on BioD.
Bought this 1972 300 sel about a month ago. I shaved the corner lights and antenna because they just did not look right to me and sprayed it black. I did the paint really quick so it was a solid color for a car show, so I will be redoing it soon. The interior is in pretty bad shape, the guy that owned it before me bought it from a guy that worked at a paint/ body shop who removed nearly all of the factory outer trim. All of the clips that attatch the side and lower trim to the body are missing or are not in good enough shape to hold so I have not put it back on. I removed the front bumpstops and cut half of the rears off so it would sit down another inch and a half or so. I will be redoing all of the factory airline and valves and most likely the airbags because I want to be able to adjust it alot faster...
Here is a pic of what it looked like when I bought it...

T Baggin S10 - What color will you end up painting your 300? I noticed that you removed the paint and polished up the hubcaps - how did you remove the paint on the caps and how did you go about polishing them?
I used aircraft paint remover (jelly kind in a can). Then I used steel wool and a really fine and runny metal polish. Then pasty metal polish on a towell, then the same runny fine polish on a towell as before.
Forgot about paint...
I like black, so I may go back with it. It will be a while before I get around to really painting it. I may remove more of the factory stuff to smooth out the body.
