Crayford or not?

Just bought this today,

3rd Merc I've had and just traded my E320 Coupe against a LR Discovery, but needed to have something with a star on it :-)

Looks like a Crayford conversion and has been well done but cant find a contact for them or list og VINs to check agiast.

Smile W123 convertibles

Hi guys, what a rare sort of Mercedes on this page! Yep, the white W123 convertible seems to be a crayford - one of probably 12 cars build and one if the few that Mercedes Benz (MB) couldn´t get its hands on to destroy it ?!. MB does not like this car. The legend says that Mercedes sued and ruined Crayford for his non-authorized re-work of the W123 car. And the legend also says that MB desperately tried to get it´s hands on these cars to get rid of them in a commando-type operation. In my opinion, one of the most beautiful cars ever build, most of them destroyed like I said probably by MB itself. Give it to an authorized MB trader and they´ll probably crush it. This is only the second original foto I have ever seen, but it seems to be the same car.

The only coach builder that works on cars like this these days, is Baehr Cabrio in Hagen in Germany, and they hardly have enough expertise. Not as good as Crayford. I have been trying to get an aesthetically looking roof for my 1983 blue W123 4-door 5seat convertible (one of 5 built), but its just impossible. Baehr did the body work, but that was it - no canvas roof, no nothing.

Will you please take a few pics of the roof bars, restraints and folding mechanism from inside at different angles and send them to me? Maybe I´ll find somebody who can rebuild this. Thx for the pics!! By the way, if you ever want to sell that car - remember me!!!
