Air Flow Plate "Safety Switch"???

Anyone know the function of the above mentioned sensor/switch? It is located on the fuel distributor btw the air flow plate and the fuel distr.
(Model is a 78 280SE, but I think larger motors of the era had them too.)
Thanks!

I think that's all of the current 'fleet'...

No. This is on top of the fuel distributor btw the plate and the octopuss, slightly to the block side but still on top of the fuel distributor housing....
maybe I'll go take a pic....

Thanks!

This:

I know it's involved w/ the fuel pump relay as pushing down on the plate causes the FPrelay to click.

RE: Air Flow Plate "Safety Switch"???

its used on the 350/80/450/500, its function is to cut fuel pump off when the pressure is up to prevent over flood conditions "i think you have just found out what your problem is m8" if its not working the pump runs on[:)]
