RE: collectable benz - your choice

The 1959 220se coupe may be rare, but it has to rank as one of the ugliest automobiles ever made, and I love coupes
I disagree. Considering the era of the vehicle, and the clientele it was intended for, it was not ugly at all. You want to talk ugly, then start mentioning things like the AMC Pacer or the Pontiac Aztec.
I would suggest you post something like "I don't think it's good looking", but to make such a definitely strong and negative statement is a bit harsh.

She has kind of off beat good looks – perhaps not the most beautiful car DB ever designed, but the car is not ugly. [8)]

RE: collectable benz - your choice

thanks guys for your comments.

i am looking primarily for style. speed and power is not an issue. a common complaint of the 190SL is that it is slow, but i am not buying an antique to race, i have my SEC for that. this will be strictly a garage queen for concours.

a friend of mine has a 70 600 pullman LWB. beautiful car. tons of money in restoration. big, really big. too big to trailer.

the 300SL roadster would be a dream.

research continues...

I would say my favorite is the 3.5 coupe since I own one. Easy to maintain, spacious, ample power. Parts are no prob. Mine is a 4sp manual and much more responsive than an auto. Even though they are rare there are always several for sale.
