1970 280 SEL original colors

Hi there -
I was just wondering if a color code is contained in the vin number for the above vehicle - it reads as:

12-053304

the car is a medium blue right now and i'm curious to know if this is original or if the car has been repainted.

thanks in advance for your help

RE: 1970 280 SEL original colors

Hi,

your complete vin should be 108019-12-xxxxxx if you have a 6cyl. engine or 108068-12-xxxxxx if you have
a 4.5 l V8 engine.
You can not tell the color code from the vin.
Check the metal plate on your radiator support.
Somewhere in the middle is a 3 digit code followed by a "G" or "H". That will give you the color code.
If you post it here I'll be able to give you the name of the color.

Best regards
Hans
