New Owner - 1975 Mercedes-Benz 450SE
I'm Mike and have just recently become the proud owner of a 1975 450SE. The car is virtually rust free and should really only require a few minor repairs to restore it to its original Teutonic splendor. My intention is to use this as a summertime daily driver.
A friend wrestled me into ownership; he's how it came about. I have a really big garage, 3+ cars wide and 2 cars deep with a wood burning stove and a walk up second floor. In October of 2003 this friend asked if he could use the garage for a few weeks to restore the bed of his 1962 404 Unimog. I said sure what the hey it's only a few weeks...we moved it out about 3 weeks ago. Just before the project is complete he started dropping hints that he would like to "do some work" on his 1972 220D. Being the nice guy I am I said bring it over. We have been working through some of the repairs (I have some questions I will post on another thread) and I realized that shortly my garage would be void of these fine pieces of German machinery, leaving me no choice but to purchase one of my own.
I have a few questions:
Were can I find some specs on the 450SE?
Any suggestions for a repair manual?
Best source for maintenance parts?
Where can I find Euro headlamps for the 116?
Anything I should really keep a close eye on with this model?
Thanks in advance,
