1976 240D engine rebuild

I have a semi-restored '76 240D. I am thinking of replacing the pistons and liners (engine slowly developed horrendous blow by, while still running quite well and not smoking). Any diesel MB enthusiasts out there that may be willing to offer advice? Anyone who has been down that route? Please advise as to feasibility, parts sources or any alternative solutions to get my baby back on the road. Thank you, Stan.
