Genuine model or not?

I came accross this link and not being up on MB classics, can anyone tell me if this is a genuine model or is it an aftermarket convertible conversion?

No such beast -- it's a coupe that's been converted, and yes, it's a POS.

Is it a coupe of the S class at the time? I saw a similar car near my school, like a C108 convertible.

No, the car is a 250C, a 114 chassis (or the "E-Class" of its time).

I didnt know that the E class went any further back than the W123, oh well. So the one ive seen was probably an S class convertible.

Yes, the 123 Chassis replaced the 114/115 Chassis in 1977.

Just like the many W111 Coupes taken to a body shop and converted to cabriolets, this coupe went through the same procedure....nope, not a genuine convertible.

It's not a W111 Coupe. It's a W114/115. See above.

Thanks.

RE: Genuine model or not?

Hi,
The W114/115 series started in 1968 and continued until the 123 series.
The 114/115 are now regarded a classic.
See Mercedes Benz Classic magazine issue Fall 2003
