Interesting Barrett-Jackson tidbit

From the Arizona Republic:

". . . bit of history

15 years ago, on Jan. 30, 1989: Collector cars valued at nearly $30 million were sold at the Barrett-Jackson Classic Car Auction, the most ever at one event. The highest selling price was $1.7 million for a 1939 Mercedes-Benz 540K Special roadster that Adolf Hitler gave Josef Stalin as a gift before World War II. More than 50,000 people attended the four-day event. Last year, the auction racked up $27 million in sales and a record 65,000 people attended. This year's auction begins Jan. 22."

Is this one of the auctions starting 1/22/04?

This car does not look 45/46 years old with regard to styling, not condition per se – Mercedes makes the most beautiful care in the world. [:)]

RE: Interesting Barrett-Jackson tidbit

No -- Barrett-Jackson is an event to be attended, not a cyber-auction. It's really well worth the trip if you're an exotic gear-head. Nice 300SL, tho...[8D]
