280SL wood trim restoration

I am restoring the wood trim on my 1969 280SL. My question is about getting it correct.
What species of wood veneer was used on this trim.
What stain color? (I have heard there was one color, and I have heard there was a dark and a light color).
Then what clear finish was applied in 1969?
Any advice/leads would be appreciated.

Re: 280SL wood trim restoration

You may want to call Heritage Woodworks in NC (888-255-3523/828-321-3523). They specialize in restoring automotive wood trim and would likely be able to give you an idea. Good Luck.
