Should i put up with a merc garage that responds to a Vito injector issue like this??

My vito went in to the local Merc garage as it was having problems starting on cold mornings. Glow plug issues were eliminated. Hard sooty build up was found around the injectors (the back vito death as i understand it) and two of the injectors werefound to be 'blowing'. Hours were spent removing the very hard sooty deposits and the injectors were re-fitted with new washers, as well as a crank sensor being changed. I've been without the van for two weeks now and when i went to pick it up today, apparently job done and £700 later, it wouldn't start! Exactly the issue i took it in for... they sent one of the mechanics out to squirt some ether down the air intake to get me started and away and i was like, no! They agreed to look at it again on monday morning but i'm somewhat at a loss as to what to expect from them or what i am entitled to demand. Its taken them quite a while to do the work, they have obviously depriorised it. At one point they called and said we might be looking at replacing the injectors, but then phoned a few days later to say, good news, we think the injectors just need refitting with new washers as they were found to be blowing.
Any advice on how i should deal with the garage would be so much appreciated... merry Christmas! Hannah

The black death deposits are very hard to clean and would be time consuming. You're lucky they didn't try to bluff you and sting you for new injectors as they're expensive.

Perhaps the vehicle was put aside for a while but all they've done is fix the injector seals, clean the deposits and replace a sensor. the copper seals are really cheap. The CPS is not expensive either http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/FOR-MERC...176277?hash=item1a12c6ec95:g:jdIAAOSwL7VWk7hZ. 700 pounds seems like a lot of money. I'd try to find out how many hours labour they charged you and the cost of the parts.

Is the vehicle starting ok now? What model is it?

RUN FOREST, RUN!!
Not all machsnics are created equal. If the mechanic doesn't have any enthusiasm for the job, RUN!
Sometimes, however, you have no choice.
I suggest an independent workshop with an older, more experienced mechanic who listens and will have a team of experts at his disposal.
For example, if the mechanic has trouble removing an injector, and doesn't have the time or tools to remove it without totally stuffing the head and can cover, he will call his mate who is a specialist in injector removal.
Sure there will be an additional charge, but it'll be cheaper overall and the head won't be trashed, and you'll be back on the road sooner.
Use this forum to praise or punish repairers. Good mechanics should be supported and the bad ones should be exposed.
Cheers :sunglasses:
