Adjusting gear box cables

Hi - has anyone every adjusted or knows how to adjust the gearbox cables on a 2001 MB Vito 112 ?

I have the feeling that the cables have been stretched over time and need adjusting as sometimes the "upwards" gears from the lever (1st, 3rd and 5th) do not always engage correctly.

I would like to know if this is a possible cause? and if so, is it easy / possible to adjust the cables on this car - and if so if any advice can be offered ???

Loads of stuff to check out on this site. Search this forum under "gear adjustment". Adjusting points are accessed via a panel under the gear stick, small changes and trial and error worked best for me.
