When i get to sixty in 4 th gear 3000rpm it goes into limp mode.
If i stop and leave for a few mins it is ok again until i am in 4 th gear at 3000 rpm then it goes again. gggrrrrr.

Howdy Steve,

That's exactly the problem I had. City driving seems fine, but once fourth gear engaged, then I'll have the limp "home" mode. Initial thing I did was to visually inspect turbo hose but didn't find the problem there. I'm currently out of the country and had no way of hooking a scanner to my car, but if you happen you find the problem, please let us know.

Thanks,
Dan

Ok i realised the glow plug light was not coming on so i removed the clocks.
mmmmmm!!!!!

no screws in cluster atall .
unclipped and found the glow plug light blocked off with foam and cardboard.
removed them and put clocks back together refitted and checked.
YEP glow plug light stays on.
It had been disguised by someone else.
Car goes into limp mode after 3000rpm in 4th gear.
Glow plugs faulty??
will take to my brothers garage to get the codes checked i think and some new glow plugs.

You might probably have busted glow plugs. I have had the same dilemma where glow my plug indicator would stay for 5 minutes or so before it would went off. Upon checking I found out that I had 2 busted GPs. I changed it and since then, I never that that issue again.

Hi all.
i have replaced the glow plug relay on the front panel/light still on dash.

replaced the clutch switch.

all the filters and oil.

glow plug light still on and goes into limp mode at 60 in 4th gear.

if i stop and turn off the engine/remove key and then restart it is out of limp mode.!!!!!!

My brother put it on the computer but found no fault codes atall.

Could this just be the glow plugs.

i am gonna get them changed .
thanks steve

im having the same problem limp mode in fourth gear but also there is no power like there was before in it. I got one of the glow plugs changed about 2 months ago and the boost pressure valve replced and everything was fine. But now its back to its old tricks.Do i bring it back to the garage and do i pay for it to be repaired again since i already paid last time.

Steve,

There were couples of issues wherein my Vito exhibit limp "home" mode. First was due to the ATF error which occasionally would come up and whenever I had it, surely I'll have limp mode as well. That issue has been fixed, after changing ATF fluid and replacing some busted bulb on my third brake light.

The other limp mode issue I had which still bothers me every now and then is the same issue you have, to which whenever I reached pass 70mph, or I go fourth gear, I supposed, then my Vito will turn into limp mode.

As of now, I'm uncertain what causes this problem and if I remember it right, I never had this issue prior of changing my glow plugs. This issue appears several weeks after changing my glow plugs, but I'm still not sure if this is limp mode issue is somehow connected to my glow plugs.

Have you sorted yours?

Guys, any thoughts?

Man this all sounds very familiar. Same deal with my 108cdi, fine around town all day long but as soon as you hit 50 60 straight into limp. Glow plug light def works as comes on with ignition but then goes out. This seems like quite a specific problem, if anyone has any luck let us know!
