Good day to you all. This is my first post to this forum, sorry it is a long one.
The central locking on my sister in law's V Class has failed big time. It had been locking and unlocking of itself for a while but this got worse until one day it was almost continuous then it stopped and the central locking did not work. We have had it in to the auto electrcians who says all the door locks motors are blown. Certainly the fuel filler cap motor was and one other door motor that has been removed ( have stripped both down to the interior of the actual motor). They also think the control unit may be blown.
Can someone confirm that the CL control unit is the box behind right dash with about six or seven multiway plugs on the top and (I think) one large one on the bottom. Fixed I think to the engine management module. Sorry, it was a while ago I looked at it
It would appear to be mainly transistors, has anyone repaired one of these, does anyone have a circuit diagram?
My thinking is that the most likely blown component on the module is the output transistors and that if I can replace them I can sort that relatively cheaply.
The sparkie said he was getting voltage on the rear door contact which drive the actuator but that there was not enough current to drive a bulb which may indicate a blown output transistor or equally may be that he was not reading across the correct contacts, they did spend a long time looking at it.
Does anyone know of a cheap source of door lock actuators in the UK, or who makes the motors for them ?
