I had the front discs and all brake pads replaced about a month ago when I had my 110 CDi serviced. I then drove down to the Alps and after coming down a particularly long steep path from Alp D'Huez the brake warning light came on. It now comes on and stays on as soon as I touch the brakes. Assuming that the new discs and pads were all correctly fitted (the brake still work just as well as always) does anyone know what could be causing this?
Check pads in case warning light is correct and one or more pads actually have worn down! This might be because a calliper has been sticking on. Otherwise most likely a wire to the sensor in one of the pads is broken and touching the chassis somewhere. However this usually gives intermittent or constant warning independent of brake application.

Thanks for your replies. I've had the brakes off and found the problem. It wasn't a wear sensor after all. It would appear that racing your mate ( in a VW tansporter) down an Alp is actually a very effective way of wearing out your nearly new brake pads within the space of just 20km or so. In their defence, I was hauling about 1/2 tonne of gear in the back and descending nearly 2km vertically down over some 21 hairpin bends.
