How low have you gone?

I have fitted some 18" alloys to my van now and its looking far too high and asking to be lowered!
How low to people recommend? My mate says I should take it down 60mm but I was thinking 40mm.
When I change springs, is it worth doing shocks as well?
Any pics of lowered vans please?

Hi Curly68,

You'll only be able to lower it 40mm on standard dampers (shocks), to get it downn 60mm would probably mean having a set of coilovers, you can get them from KW Suspension but there aren't cheap!

KW automotive GmbH

I lowered mine with H&R springs and I also went for Koni dampers at the same time, you wouldn't belive what a massive difference it has made to the handling. It has suprised a few people down twisty lanes!

I haven't got any pics of my Vito on this computed so I can't upload a picture of mine I'm afraid but, there are some picures of it on the Vito/V-Class pimping thread and it's on the 'Got me a new zorst' thread.

This has been lowered 40 at the front and is on 18" wheels. Looks better now the back hasbeen done but can't find a recent photo. I think 60 would look too low to be honest.

Good point, 40mm looks good. Will go for that I think and some wheel arch extensions. Once fitted I will be able to add my van to the pimped out section!
