If it wont rev past 3k then your are in "limp" mode - a safeguard built into the ECU to limit revs should a problem happen
Not sure whats caused it though...................
I changed my vito rad today and afterwards the glowplug light stayed on , found that the glow plug relay earth wire clamp had corroded away , not sure if this would cause edc to come on but might be one thing to eliminate .
thanks I'll have a look at all the earths.
one thing that i found today was the black box that sits on it's side on the left hand headlight panel has a red wire bolted to it that had corroded off!!! and the 4 pin block connecter had oil in it thought thats got to be it but nope lights are still on.
i did think it was in limp mode when i was overtaken by a citroen 2cv
i could do with getting it sorted asap as my girlfriend is moving on the 5 and i am racing at rockingham the weekend after
Hi Kev,
I have a 2000 vito 108 CDI with EXACTLY the same problem. I've been stuck in limp mode for ages now and its driving me crazy....if anyone hears of a solution please help!! Took it to a Mercedes service centre and their laptop couldn't communicate with my ECU - all they told me was i had a rare model..... very helpful.
I've heard lots of different reasons for the EDC warning light to be triggered but none that seem to explain my problem. Any advice much appreciated
My advice, check the wiring and all the conneectors, make sure everything is connected securely. had a similar problem with a broken wire to my injector. Ive since changed all the wiring in the van, cost a fraction of what a so called merc mechanic qouted.
