Front indicators

I've got a 2002 Vito with the amber coloured front indicators. I've ordered some clear front indicators from germany, but cannot find anything in the forum about how to replace the originals.

I've got the original manual and a german repair manual but none of them mention how to take off and replace the indicator lens covers.

any assistance appreciated.

also some time ago someone posted a picture of some Valeo replacement headlights that used a rocket type mount (3 small circular lens mounts) - does anyone know if they are still available? I've unable to find any on ebay or find them on Valeo's site.

If your shape is the same as my '99, then its really simple! I used a pair of extra long nose pliers to remove the spring (it hooks over the headlight), then all you need to do is to slide the indicator forward and remove the bulb holder. 2 minute job each side.

Easiest thing in the world. As curly says.. just a spring.. Are you also doing the repeaters. The aftermarket ones I bought didnt fit so I had to get original mb ones which were oddly hthe same price as the aftermarket ones. Be careful when you take the old ones off not to scratch the paintwork

thanks fellas. just replacing the large indicators (next to the headlamps) at this stage. Do the side fender repeaters pop out or is there are a trick to replacing them?

I've replaced the rear light clusters with LEDs and have a racing relay, so thats the next thing to replace.

Yep, they just pop out but use a thin screwdriver or knife blade otherwise you break the lugs that keep the fellas in place.

the small side repeaters should be pushed forewards towards the front, use your fingers, minimal pressure required. they then just pop out, no need for any tools and no risk of damage to paintwork.

thanks all. fronts done, now just have to get crystal clear lenses for the side fenders.

on another note, in the main headlamps there is a small bayonet socket that plugs to the fender side of the backing shell. it's a push in light (similar to a wedge, are they T series lamps?

I think that's the side light bulb you are talking about which is a W5W 501:

W5W 501 Capless Bulbs :: Standard 12V Replacement Halogen Bulbs :: Autobulbs Direct Ltd - Xenon bulbs, car bulbs, wiper blades, headlight, Osram, Ring, Philips

on another note - does anyone know how to pop out the rear number plate light? is it a clip on and if so which side do you leverage out.

wrecked vitos are a rarity here, so I can't get to a yard to check out a damaged vehicle for ideas. I'd rather not bust mine by being hamfisted.
