vito 108cdi, advice needed.

I've just joined up today, i'd like to say hello to everyone on the site especially fellow vito/v-class owners.

all the time i've owned the vito (about 3 years now) when the ignition is turned on, you can hear a motor or pump running somewhere deep in the dashboard.
that was until a few days ago when this pump/motor started to get slower and slower, now it's stopped altogether, does anyone know what this is or what it does ? the van still starts & runs ok.

thanks in advance for any replies.

I think it's the part of the fuelling system.. mine does exactly the same. Sometimes I can hear it, sometimes it doesn't run but I have never had a problem with the van.

Cheers

Adam.

thanks adam,

i suppose like you say, as long as the van runs ok there's no point in worrying too much about it.

it just seems funny though that it's suddenly stopped after all this time, but hey, its not the only strange electrical thing that's happened.

But as you say... as long as its still goin

I'm a Ducati and Alfa Romeo previous owner and in those days when the electrics did funny things they either didn't go or worse they bloody caught fire!!! still love em tho!!!!

yeah, this motor/pump thingy has stopped, but if you leave it overnight it runs for a few seconds next day. it sounds like something with a run down battery like a drill, when you leave it for a while it kinda finds a bit more power from somewhere.

another strange one was the whole ignition went dead and i found that i had to wiggle the main loom under the dash and it came back on, that was about a year ago but it's been ok since. i dont go near it now if i can help it
